Choosing the Right Swimwear for Your Body

Swimwear may be among the most personal and revealing clothing that you put on your body. Each year as spring approaches, women all over the country start dreading the inevitable shopping trip to buy a new swimsuit, imagining all the horrors awaiting them in the three-way mirror.

It doesn't have to be that way. In fact, if you take your body's best features into consideration and understand how to downplay the parts you're not as wild about that dreaded swimwear buying trip can net you a swimsuit that looks spectacular and makes you feel like the most beautiful girl on the beach.

Accentuate the Positive

Most women focus on the things they don't like about their figures. Looking at the negatives can make shopping for your swimsuit a miserable experience. Instead, suggest fashion experts, look on the bright side. Consider the things you like about your figure and shop for a suit that makes the most of them. If you've got great legs, for example, choose swimwear with high-cut hips that make your legs look longer and shapelier. A one-piece maillot with cutout sides will play up that curvy waist-to-hip ratio, while a bandeau bikini will minimize your chest and play up your hips and legs.

Aside from the general admonition to accentuate the positive when you're looking at swimsuits and bikinis, there are other more specific tips that can help you choose the best swimwear for your body type.

* Get a good fit. A too-tight swimsuit will add bulges where they don't exist by compressing flesh and cutting into your body at awkward spots. A bathing suit that's too big can be just as bad. Loose bottoms will lead to a saggy butt that makes you look like you're wearing a diaper, while an oversize bikini top won't offer your girls the support they need to look their best.

* Choose your swimwear tops and bikinis separately so that you can get the perfect fit for each part of your body. When you mix and match, you can also play off styles so that each part of your swimsuit flatters your body. Team up boy short bottoms with a bikini top to show off your cleavage while camouflaging your bottom, or match up a tankini with bikinis to give yourself a little more coverage up top.

* Be careful that your attempt to cover up doesn't backfire by calling attention to the problem. Choosing bikini bottoms with a high waist to cover up a little tummy can make your whole body look blocky and stodgy. Instead, choose a one-piece with a splash of pattern or color to divert attention to your bust or waistline. No one will ever notice the tummy bulge.

* Choose a suit with some structure if you need support. New swimwear features extra spandex to pull in your tummy and pick up your butt. Swimsuit tops with pads, underwires and halters can give your bust the lift it needs to look spectacular.

Shopping for a swimsuit doesn't have to be horrible. Just concentrate on the positives and be clever about the way you cover up those things you don't like.

Choosing Swimwear For Your Body Shape

All women want to look fabulous on the beaches this summer. Even if your not jetting of for a beach holiday there is bound to be a swimming pool at the hotel. The secret to looking good in swimwear is not about choosing the latest 'must have' fashionable bikini or swimsuit. It is about choosing the right swimwear to maximise your good points and minimise your bad points. Yes everyone has bad points even supermodels!

We've split body shapes into six categories to give you our recommendations for each body shape...

If you have a small bust

If you are small on top then definitely look for bikinis that are underwired and for a little extra help look for padded bikinis. Bandeau bikinis really suit you and only you can really wear small triangle bikinis that cause a sensation on the beach..

If you have a big bust

If you are large on top then you need to ensure your breasts are adequately supported and halterneck bikini tops are the perfect answer. If possible look for styles that are banded around base and tie up at the top for some lift and get a perfect fit. To draw attention away from your large chest look for detailing on your lower half or combine with a small beach skirt, sarong or wrap.

If you have small hips

Look for bikini briefs that have a high cut leg or opt for a hipster styled brief to create a curvier silhouette. Some nice detailing on the brief, such as a contrasting belt will work wonders for your figure. Choose bright colours and avoid solid block colours, especially black as this will have a slimming effect and make you look even more boyish.

If you have large hips

If you have large hips then the secret is to draw the eye towards other areas of the body. One of the best techniques is to have a contrasting top. For ultimate effect choose a plain dark bikini bottom with a bright and vibrant bikini top. Or look for a swimsuit that has the detailing around the bust rather than the waist

If you have a long body

Hipsters work best for your hips as high cut briefs can make your long legs look even longer. And ruffled skirts and sarongs are made just for you! Go for low neck lines rather than high ones as these will lengthen your body even more.

If you have a large tummy

Then a control one piece swimsuit or control tankini is your best option. These have a much nigher spandex content than normal swimwear which will hold your tummy in on the beach. The aim here is to draw the eyes away from your middle so go for subtle detailing on both the top and the bottom of the swimsuit leaving the centre as plain as possible.

Choosing the Best Victoria Secret Bikini

Having a Victoria Secret bikini may be one of your greatest dreams during summer. Victoria's Secret offers different styles when it comes to bikinis and you just don't know what to pick. So if you are ready to heat up this summer, here are some tips on how to choose the best bikini for you.

If you have a small bust, choose a bikini top that is triangular in style with spaghetti straps so that your small bust will be enhanced. You can also buy a bandeau top with a pattern or bold prints to give a larger bust effect. You can take advantage of having those cute ruffled tops since they are made to perfectly suit your type. On the other hand, if you have a big bust, you should buy a Victoria Secret bikini top that has halter style to give you ample support while swimming. You should avoid strapless tops and tri-tops since they will not give you the support that you need.

Horizontal stripes will make small body frames look big and diagonal and vertical stripes will give an elongated body effect. Small and petite frames also need string types of bikinis. If you have small hips, you should have low cut bottoms and tie-sided briefs to hide your hips. But if you have big hips, you should avoid detailed or embellished bottoms so you will not draw attention to your hips. Victoria Secret bikini collection will surely give you the pair that will best suit your body type, whether you have a small frame or a big frame.
